Nel 1926 la fedele assistente del Dott. Bates, Emily C. Lierman, raccoglie in un volume oltre undici anni di esperienza di intenso lavoro medico per raccontare alcuni dei centinaia di casi di vista imperfetta che aveva trattato e guarito gratuitamente nelle giornate di “clinica ambulatoriale” presso l’Ospedale di Harlem.  Questo è l’unico libro che “regge il confronto” con il testo del Dott. Bates, perché lo completa illustrando “dal vivo” i metodi di trattamento impiegati direttamente sui pazienti più vari e per risolvere i problemi più diversi: miopia, presbiopia, cataratta, retinite pigmentosa, glaucoma, irite, strabismo, cecità e atrofia del nervo ottico.  L’amore profondo e sincero di Emily per l’umanità irradia da ogni parola e diventa una meravigliosa fonte di ispirazione che commuove e allo stesso tempo spinge a iniziare il percorso di guarigione con grande entusiasmo. In appendice, tutto il volume in stampa fine e microscopica su carta ad altissima definizione.
